Lastly was the question on boredom
We found that there were three basic things that we and the students were hoping to achieve by conducting this survey:
1. Help students make new friends
2. Find new meaningful activities to engage in
3. Answer fun online questions and enjoy the results
Help students make new friends
If you're looking for new friends .... do write to the people who you think you might be interested in befriending based on their self-descriptions and personality types. Seriously, just email them on their iitd.ac.in email address or else message them on moodle (assuming you don't have their phone/whatsapp number). Email ID is better because not everyone checks moodle. I'm sure most people wouldn't mind receiving emails from random people who found them interesting. And don't write to just one person, write to a few.
Ofcourse we don't recommend messaging all the girls you can find (assuming you're a boy), use your own judgement. A number of the anonymous messages received in the survey pertain to those interested in girl friends and girlfriends. There is no doubt that there is a significant gender imbalance in IITD (and all IITs in general), but there is nothing one can do about it. If you're a boy who is interested in making friends with girls that's perfectly normal (if anything it's abnormal if you're not). But when it comes to relationships, most people prefer establishing healthy friendships first, before entering a 'relationship', whatever that may be. If you're desperate for a relationship immediately, you'll only be disappointed, the odds are simply not in your favour. If you're a girl, you may find the lack of other girls a bit disappointing. But chances are you'll still find someone of your liking if you spend enough time looking around.
The MBTI is in no way a reliable way to tell who you'll 'click' with, there's a number of other factors involved. You might find yourself able to easily relate with other people of your MBTI type, but at the same time you might find them boring for that very reason. We conducted the MBTI test mainly so that you think about your own personality and what you want to mold it into in the coming years, rather than magically find the perfect friends you.
Find new meaningful activities to engage in
This is an area we are yet to look into. You're welcome to try out the various clubs and activities available at IIT, hopefully you'll find something interesting. Meaningful activities don't necessarily have to be expensive or take much effort, they could be as simple as reading books, eating out or playing a board game with some friends. If you haven't eaten outside the campus, you should try it out once, even if you have to do it alone. Delhi has a huge number of restaurants, you might find as many as 50-100 restaurants just within a few kilometers of IIT. The SDA Market is opposite the campus.
You're perhaps more free than you've ever been in your lives, with no parents to monitor you everywhere you go. Do make use of your free time. Take the initiative to go to new places with your friends. Don't expect activities organised by IIT to keep you occupied and happy all the time, sometimes you got to take the effort to find something you actually enjoy doing.
And if there's anything you'd like to see organised within IIT itself, you could try organising it yourself or contacting the BSW if it requires more participants/funding etc.
Answer fun online questions and enjoy the results
We are planning to make fun online surveys a regular (maybe monthly?) thing. Optional ofcourse. And definitely not as time-consuming as a 100-question personality questionnaire. Before this however we plan to create an all-encompassing database of students that contains everything about them from hostels to interests to contact details and so on. Student databases are currently a bit detached. For instance the list of hostels and hostel addresses would be with the hostel caretaker. Courses taken are on the moodle webpage. Personality-based information is on this site. Contact details of students can be obtained from whatsapp groups. Interests/Clubs you're a part of is probably somewhere else.
We will create this public database and the forms required and notify you in a couple of weeks when it is ready. Note that registering in this database will be compulsory, though a lot of information that you share will be shared voluntarily and optionally. So no, don't worry about having to fill another lengthy form.
Feedback
We may not be able to personally respond to all the feedback received, though we assure you we have read all of it. We will ask for feedback again in the future, stay tuned.

Lastly was the question on boredom
Assuming 1 and 2 to mean not bored and 3 to 5 to mean bored, that means 44% of people are bored/homesick. I agree however that I should have made the wording more clear - am I asking about boredom or homesickness?
The concept of having such a survey is completely new to IITD and hasn't been done with the previous batches. The experiment was nowhere near perfect and we have learnt a lot from your feedback and responses.
